Frank Mulcrone
Frank was a member of the Brother Rice High School swimming and water polo programs all four years. While swimming for the Crusaders, Mulcrone qualified for the state meet from 1988 to 1989. He was named a member of the All-State team all four years, earned the MVP of the State tournament his senior season, as well as earned the Tony Lawless Award for the Chicago Catholic League. Mulcrone was also inducted into the Circle of Champions, the Brother Rice athletic hall of fame in 2013.
Frank Mulcrone continued his swimming and water polo career at the East Coast powerhouse, Slippery Rock University (SRU), where he was a member of the 1991 NCAA Division 1 Championship qualifying team, finishing 7th in the nation. As a swimmer and a water polo player at SRU, Frank achieved many records and honors, including water polo NCAA Division 1 three-time All American from 1991 to 1993, swimming NCAA Division 2 All-American for the 200-yard freestyle, and a member of the Illinois Water Polo Hall of Fame.
“I was coached by two of the best coaches in the country, my father ‘Moose’ and my college coach Doc Hunkler,” Frank said. “They always stressed paying back to the sport after our playing careers ended. Water polo has given me many great opportunities in my life, and I plan on repaying my love of water polo back to the program and players.”
